Guide to Winning: The "Hot Girl Rule"
Persistence
I was listening to an interesting (as always) talk from Gary Vaynerchuk, and he mentioned what he called the "Hot Girl Rule". It goes like this:
Nerd Friend: Hey Gary, how can I date a hot girl?
Gary: Easy! You go and ask a 100 girls out. Eventually one of them will agree to go out with you.
This was in response to someone asking how to sell their website to advertisors. The principle is a time-honoured one. It's probabability coupled with being consistently persistent.
The stats say that most startups fail within their first 2 years in business. One reason for this is that the founders don't have the momentum to slog through the dip to reach critical mass.
